In cases when I need to write longer functions build up of longer code in Power Apps it gets hard to edit the code in that panel. Is there a way to open an additional code editor inside PowerApps, or import code written in Visual Code Editor to PowerApps?

The only real option you have is to use a text editor to work on your Formulas and then copy and paste into the Formula Editor in the designer.
The only thing I can recommend is that you consider if you are writing a Formula this is so long that it needs that much space, to reconsider your approach. Simple is the key in PowerApps! Refactor your formula as much as possible. It will work better, be easier to read and edit and easier to maintain in the future.
I hope this is helpful for you.
If you really want to you can use NotePad++ and then download a language file to format it. I use this for when I want to refactor formulas. Don't want to lose the code but still want it to look the same.
