Power apps per app license

Hello community,

I am using Power apps per user plan. I build a Canvas app that connect to the Dataverse. I don't want manage the master data on the canvas app, so I create a Model driven app to handle the master data in dataverse. My canvas app only connects to the tables that are in this Model driven app.

If I share both this canvas app and model driven app to 1 user, how many Power app per app licenses 1 user needs?

Thanks,

Binh.

    Hi @trucbinh

I could be wrong but my guess is that user might need 2 app licences as user need licence for each app (one for Model driven and one for Canvas App)..

one way to make this work using one app licence is to embed canvas app in to model driven app and user to access only one app (you can show/hide certain area based on permission).. in this case you will need 1 licence for app ...... again all this is from my memory .... so worth double checking latest licensing guide.... https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/

    Hope this helps..

    Hi @MayankP ,

Thanks for your suggestion. Embedded canvas app can be a solution.

I checked this canvas app embedded in model driven app case with Microsoft. They did not give a direct answer but I understood between the lines that it counts as two applications and thus needs two licenses.

So, if you want to be in clear water, buy per user license or count enough per app licenses.

In general this per app license is very complicated.

    Hi @virksami ,

I guess this is not true, it must count as one app..... refer Microsoft official pricing documentation regarding this...

you can read this at https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/admin/powerapps-flow-licensing-faq

    hope this helps...

I assume it's a component, not app. These are two different.
