MDA Navigation: Subarea showing despite missing permissions

Hi Community,

In my App I have a table to which only certain users should have some permissions. Adding the table to my app and the navigation should make it only visible to the users, which do have the correct permissions. But it doesn't - any user can see the navigation entry and they receive a "missing permission" error when navigating to list view.

Similar issue already described here Solved: Question relating to security roles and navigation... - Power Platform Community (microsoft.com) But proposed solution there (multiple apps) is not applicable in my case.

I already tried to specifically add table permissions to navigation and checked exported solution xml - it is in there...

Any ideas would be highly appreciated...

Thanks!

Some Screenshots attached - Navigation View (with MeReport Entry, which should not be visible), User Access Error view, Corresponding Security Group permissions assignments (no access to the table)

    Hello @MetroIgor
    Please check the video https://softchief.com/2022/08/08/show-hide-sitemap-sub-area-in-model-driven-power-apps-as-per-table-privilege/

    Hope it was helpful

    Hi @ShawnDante

Many thanks for prompt response. This is exactly how I have implemented it.

Yet, the problem is, it doesn't behave as expected. Although the user does not have privileges on the table, it is present in the navigation and the user receives an error message...

Hope there are some other ideas in the round....

    All,

after having spent some time with Microsoft support and more investigation I found the problem. For future reference: It is working as expected and described in the video by @ShawnDante .

My culprit was me using the tool "Level up for Dynamics 365/Power Apps v3.6.4" for checking the result. It works great with impersonation with many other use cases. But in this case, despite me impersonating the person with no rights, Navigation apparently picks up my sysadmin privileges and shows all possible entries... Hence the confusion.

Test it with real users 🙂

    Thanks!
