Copying Default Environment Database to Production Environment

Hi all!

Like the title says, I want to copy our company database over from the default environment to a new production environment. We've been storing data in the default environment, but after learning that the default environment cannot be restored or backed-up, we've decided to create a production environment to house our data.

I wanted to know if anyone could point me in the direction of a tutorial or blog post that outlines how to export all my company data from the default environment and import it into the new production environment. I have quite a few apps, flows, solutions, and custom tables that I want to be completely transferred over to this new environment. I found this, but wanted to make sure this was the "Everything" level of copy was the right way to go before I changed our data.

Thanks for the links! So from what I'm seeing it's quite a laborious process to copy one environment to another. There's no out-of-the-box tool that helps copy the default environment? That seems like quite the oversight on Microsoft's part.

    Thanks!

    Hi @Anonymous ,

There are abilities to do this for Production and Sandbox environments.  Microsoft does identify these challenges with the Default environment here (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/admin/environments-overview#the-default-environment) but overall I have seen multiple customers hit this issue.

There really is no "easy" path for the default environment, sorry about that.  The links provided by @MayankP are good references.  I also answered this a couple of weeks ago here for another individual in the same situation.  https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Microsoft-Dataverse/Moving-data-from-default-environment/m-p/1308687#M14828

Hope this helps.  Please accept if answers your question or Like if helps in any way.

    Thanks,

    Drew
