Display Appended Comments Version History From SharePoint List in Power Apps

Hello,

I have been following this C# Corner blog post on how to display appended comments version history from a SharePoint list in Power Apps and whilst it's mostly straight forward, I am having an issue with getting the formatting right in Step 2 where it calls the Power Automate flow from a button to pass specific parameters.

Display Appended Comments Version History From SharePoint List On PowerApps (c-sharpcorner.com)

Ref:
Set(AppendCommentsMore,GetAllversions.Run("Comment","https://xyz8.sharepoint.com/sites/PowerApps","AppendedTextSample",SPAppendText.Selected.ID))

I am using this on the button - I have replaced "Comment" with "ArgumentCR" - I am not sure what AppendedTextSample is?
Set(AppendArgumentCRHistory,'BSC-PowerApps-ChangeRequest-ArgumentHistory'.Run("ArgumentCR","https://mydomain.sharepoint.com/sites/BuildingSafetyCase","AppendedTextSample",galSubtopic.Selected.ID))

I have also added an htmlText control to my app as per the guide and when I tried setting it's HtmlText value to AppendArgumentCRHistory.result - I see this error:

For reference, here is my Power Automate flow:

flow1
flow2
flow3

Would appreciate any ideas to resolving this.

    Hi,

First, the second error is related to the first error. Since you are not successfully calling the flow, due to your first error, it automatically makes the second one error out. Also, you have typed .result, it would be .Result

Ok first error, is happening because your Flow, has zero input parameters, but you are passing it 4.

You need toa dd the parameters to the input of your Power Apps V2. V2 isn't like V1. Add them.
In your App, you are passing those 4, but it doesn't expect them so it says, you are passing 4, but expected 0.

Thats why. Fix that input. Fix the Output to .Result and you are good. At least assuming you have no other errors in the flow.

@FLMike - which ones do I need to add to the PowerApps V2 trigger? I have added ArgumentCR Text input:

    Hi @sudosaurus -

    1. Your PowerFX is showing 4 parameters. So you also need to add 4 input parameters in the PowerApps trigger, and in the order that you are inputting your variables.

    2. If your goal is to get the result response, you should set that as your variable and not the flow itself. In other words, this should be your PowerFx

    Set(AppendArgumentCRHistory,'BSC-PowerApps-ChangeRequest-ArgumentHistory'.Run("ArgumentCR","https://mydomain.sharepoint.com/sites/BuildingSafetyCase","AppendedTextSample",galSubtopic.Selected.ID).Result)
Let me know if this helps with your issue.

OK, so now I have the function displaying correctly (now that I've added the required inputs to the flow trigger:

I am unable to get the HtmlText box to use AppendArgumentCRHistory.result

I do notice that after a while (once the button is pressed (that launches the flow and the Topic (Topic 3. Fire Safety) modal dialog/container), this flow then fails with this error:

Action 'ColumnName' failed: Unable to process template language expressions in action 'ColumnName' inputs at line '0' and column '0': 'The template language expression 'triggerBody()['ColumnName_Value']' cannot be evaluated because property 'ColumnName_Value' doesn't exist, available properties are 'text, text_1, text_2, text_3'. Please see https://aka.ms/logicexpressions for usage details.'.
