Filtering Line Chart Based on ComboBox Selection

Hi,

I am aiming to filter a line graph based on the selection of a combo box. In the combo box there are three values (LGG, P, C) and based on one or more selection of these values the line graph will graph and Age (X axis) and shannon (Y axis) with up to three series which are the selections from the combo box. I don't want to hardcode the values for the collect on the combobox since the data is so large. Attached is what the data table on excel looks like, as well as the screen I am aiming to create.

Thank you for the help!

    Hello @clodagh2 ,

Please see the following. If you have a large dataset i feel that it would be better to have multiple filters since we might not have enough space to display all of the data in one go

Also you might already know this but just incase you do not, please be aware that Import from Excel connector cannot be refreshed - kindly read the following tip from one of my favorite PowerApps super users Matthew Devaney

But here is what you requested

    Items property of combobox

    Distinct(Table4,Supplementation_Status)

    Items property of LineChart

    Filter(Table4,(Len(ComboBox1.Selected.Result) = 0 || Supplementation_Status in ComboBox1.SelectedItems))

    Hopefully this helps

    Cheers !

    Hi there,

Thank you very much for taking the time to answer my question. For the series on the bottom of the line chart I want graph the age vs shannon for each of the three types of supplementation status (LGG, C, P), how can I make the series show one, two or three series depending what is selected on the combo box. As in on the bottom, instead of the series being 'shannon' as you have it, I instead want it to be 'LGG', 'P', and/or 'C' depending on what was selected in the combobox and I want the linegraph to reflect that as well. I think I would want to change the Items propety of the series

    Hello @clodagh2,

Unfortunately I do not think that you will be able to get this done with powerapps charts since series1,2,3.... need to be manually selected and cannot be assigned dynamically or though some code. More powerapps Charts have very limited functionality. I would recommend building this graph in powerbi and then adding it in powerapps

Here is a good video by Reza which talk about that https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DADWqlKdL3s

    Hi,

Can I instead graph the x and y axis and just display one (either LGG, P or C)? How do I make the x axis be age and then y axis be the shannon index column?

Hello @clodagh2 ,Select your line chart and click on the advanced option on the right hand toolbar. Here series indicate your Y (Select Shannon) axis and Lebel indicates X axis (need to select Age)

    Hope this helps !
