Power apps data table header separator for styling

Is there a way that we can separate headers in the power apps data table with a small border after the header width as marked in attachment just the same way as how it shows a small border in the column content.

Also, can we add a separate border styles for data table header.

Thanks,
Srinivas

    Hi @sthota ,

Unfortunately, DataTable in PowerApps has very limited scope for styling and again sorry to say we can implement the styling which you are looking for. I would suggest you switch this to a gallery and frame the data you want.

I hope this resolved your issue if you see any challenge/need further help let me know I am always happy to help.

    Regards,
    Krishna

    @sthota

I agree with @KrishnaV.  Using a gallery is preferable to Data Tables and will help to overcome any limitations.  Suggest you take his advice 🙂

@KrishnaV @mdevaney  Thanks guys for your recommendations. I agree with your thoughts on data table limited features in power apps as of now. However, my issue seems to be resolved now as It is taking border color as a separator in the header.

Please find the screenshot for the same.

    Thanks,
    Srinivas

    Hi @sthota,

I see that as a border property maybe I read you wrong that you want more spacing on the column header. I am very glad that issue is resolved for you. I request you to mark the relevant reply as the solution so that the new members of the community will make use of the solution(s).

@sthota  Need your help. Could you please tell me as to which property of the datatable control you have updated? On updating the Border Color for me the area surrounding the table gets updated and not the separator of the columns. I have attached a screenshot. Requesting your help please!

@powerapps_cpb Thanks for posting. I did a small POC to just realize that it is taking the default border color of the Data table from Themes.JSON file under .MSAPP folder.

Also, it looks like we can not customize it. As you can see in the attached 1st screenshot below, Gray was my default theme border color. When I modified the border color of Data Table to purple, it didn't really change. If you can not see the header border color as header border color then try changing the HeaderFill to a contrast color so that the border will appear in the header.

If you have a requirement where you need to show a different header border than Data table border, then we have a work around as below. It may not be the best way though as it adds up extra labels on the screen.

    1. Insert a label exactly on top of the header label of the Data table.

    2. Set the text to blank

    3. Set Border Color of your choice
    4. Set Border Thickness to 2
    5. Set Border Style to Solid

    6. Repeat the same process for all the other header labels and merge the labels at the end of each.

    Thanks for the workaround idea.
