Import Data from Excel using Alternate Keys in Lookup Tables

I'm importing the last of several linked tables into dataverse and having trouble getting the import to work this time. Here's the situation:

  • I've built the table in dataverse (which contains two separate lookup columns to two different tables, both of which have alternate keys set up and active).
  • I'm able to manually enter a row of data into the table just fine.
  • I'm then exporting to excel so I can add my data in excel then use the import from excel function in dataverse.

The problem is that the excel file generated in the export has the lookup fields showing the GUIDs in the linked tables and not the alternate keys that are set up. When I have imported previous tables this way, the alternate key showed up there instead, and I was able to import just fine. I can't see anything different between how the tables or relationships are set up. Any ideas?

In case anyone has this same issue, I figured out how to import it successfully, though I still don't know why it worked before and not this time.

If you click the 'settings' gear, click advanced settings. Then click the drop down arrow by settings and open 'data management'. Select imports then create a new import. From there, I was able to map the columns to the appropriate fields.
