Dataverse Options/Choices and Label/Value

Hello,

I'm building a app using power apps that store data in dataverse, but when i set some options inside dataverse the system just in automatic generate a "VALUE" for each "LABEL" that i set.

Here's a pic:

I can't change any of that "values", and then in Power Bi the data can't show me the real LABEL. Values cannot be a text, just numbers.

Here's another pic of my table in Power Bi:

Any of you have the same problem? I don't want ant "value" for that options/choices, because i work with text not numbers. And in Power Bi i want to see my real data for that choices as a text.

Thanks!

Lucas

Please check out the following article and bookmark for details on how to pull the labels.  https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-apps/maker/data-platform/data-platform-powerbi-connector?tabs=Dataverse#special-column-types

Hi @dpoggemann, i read the article and don't see the exact solution.

"Choices are similar to choice columns with the difference being that users can select multiple items from the list. Choices aren't currently fully supported with the Dataverse connector. When you use the Dataverse connector with choices columns, you only receive the integer values, which are comma separated. The item label name columns aren't returned. For more information about the Dataverse data types not supported with the Dataverse connector, see Supported operations and data types."

Do you know exactly how to extract in Power Bi the label data?

    Thanks,

    Lucas

    Hi @LucasCorsinoPAE ,

Sorry, missed the fact it was Choices you were looking for...

Will keep researching and talk to my team of experts in Power BI and see if they have an idea.

    Hi @LucasCorsinoPAE ,

When I load my data to Dataverse with choices columns, I always see a column with the values and then another column with the text labels for that choice - please see below. Are you not getting the same behaviour on your side?

@dpoggemann Thanks for your helping! i'm still searching the solution to my problem with this Dataverse choices in Power Bi.

@PowerPuffKK Thanks! Inside my power query in power bi i only see 1 column with the VALUE data but not the LABEL.

    Here's my code:

    LucasCorsinoPAE_0-1654263464986.png

I navigate into "Entities" to grab the info, but have only 1 column with values of each Dataverse choices, not the labels.

And here's the data displayed, without the labels:

    LucasCorsinoPAE_1-1654263673898.png

All this info came from an app builded in Power Apps using Dataverse as a db. With Choices that are used in forms inside the app.

Here's another pic of my data, it's OK the connector to power bi? I have Entities and System tables.

Pic of my app in Power Apps:

I set this Choices here, and vinculate with my forms in the APP.

    Thanks a lot!

    Cheers,

    Lucas

@PowerPuffKK @dpoggemann I found the solutions, and it seem like a Microsoft bug with the new version of Dataverse.

In the old version we can choose between "CHOICES" and "CHOICE" for a type of column, but now we only have "CHOICE" and that type of data works fine in Power Bi, with 2 columns of data, column Label and Column Value for each.

My data warehouse mounted in Dataverse is from 4 months ago, so the change to the new version affected my tables. At the beginnin all my tables had CHOICES from the old version of Dataverse, and that didn't work well in Power Bi.

I created a new table in the the version and works fine. Here's a pic:

Thanks you both very much for the help!

    Hello,

sorry to up this post and your answer but I didn't really understand...

I got the same issue (no display item value), I created a post this morning and I don't understand what is the solution.

Not good in the run but my solution is to do "replace values" in the query editor...am I wrong?( i hope i am lol)

Can anyone please explain what is the necessity for the numerical value next to the choice? I only require the text label and not the value. Is there a way I can avoid the numerical value?
