Good morning,
I am starting this topic because I would like to understand the purpose of the Company Name field in the standard Contacts table. This field has a logical name completely different from the display name (ParentCustomerId) and it has a sort of circular relationship with itself
Thanks in advance to anybody who will respond
Hello,
Historically (at least since version v4.0 when I started to work with this platform) there was this field in contact entity and the original label was "Parent Customer" where user was able to choose the "Parent" for the contact - it was possible to choose either account or contact (AKA "Polymorphic" lookup). After years Microsoft relabeled the field to "Company Name". I believe this is mainly because of the usage - it was used to select the Company Contact belonged to. There were a lot of systems in production at that time so it was a breaking change to change the metadata behind the field. I believe it's some kind of ancient platform artifact from the past.
Do you experience any confusion/challenges using that field?
Hi,
Do you know why I can't assign a business name when I create a new contact and it only shows the person's name?
But the sample (Thomas Andersen) comes with a business (e.g. Coho Winery) assigned?
@mhoque Even i am facing same issue. Did you find any solution?
@vidyacollation No sorry. No luck as yet.
As far as I remember the field mentioned is of "Customer" type and it might be either contact or account.
In order to select account instead of contact you will have to click "Back" arrow and select account instead of contact.
If you want the account type to be set by default you will have to use setEntityTypes function of lookup control with ['account', 'contact'] parameter to set the sequence and put 'account' as a first one. You can check the example here - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-apps/developer/model-driven-apps/clientapi/reference/controls/setentitytypes
Couple of possibilities
I am also encountering this issue, I think its since I turned on the Enhanced Data Model. Has anyone found a solution?
Hello!
Have you solved this issue?
Hi. I believe so.The enhanced mode creates a new management model drive app "Power Pages Management." Within this app I edited it and added the "Account" table. Fixed it for me.
I tried it and it is doesn't work for me.
I solved by creating new app with Account and Contact tables. Thanks.
