Power Platform Environment Capacity

Hello,

Please someone teach me how we get the storage capacity by subscribing certain licenses.

I am testing in my own environment and subscribed Microsoft 365 E3 (x 2) and Dataverse additional storage 1 GB (x 2) and this is how it looks like

Now I have some questions.

1. I have not created any environment but this indicates that I have already used 1 GB and what is this for?

2. I now have 3 GB of storage, 2 GB of which I understand and that is by the additional storage I subscribed to. But why do I only have 1 GB "Org default" even though I bought Microsoft 365 E5 x 2?

3. "User license", how is this number updated?

Power Platform licensing is confusing and please advise.

Thank you.

    Hi @anada1124,

Here are my quick answers to your questions:

    1. According to your screenshot, yes you have one environment created in the Default environment
    2. A vanilla environment takes up about 1GB of storage by default.
    3. Every Power App / D365 license gives additional capacity. This shows the additional capacity gain for every license purchased. Microsoft 365 E5 does not give extra capacity or Dataverse/Database capabilites/access.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi Eric,

Thank you very much for your information.

"Default Environment", yes, I overlooked that it also consumes storage.

So do I have to purchase additional storage of Dataverse as I did or is there any other way to add storage?

Only need to purchase extra storage when your over capacity which is not the case now. Based on your license you don’t have any licenses that gives you access to Dataverse so there’s no point to buy additional storage. You need to purchase Power Apps per user or per app licenses which will give access to Dataverse, premium connectors and also more storage.
