Record Save 2

I have a Power App where I create new records be "+" shown.  The OnSelect is...  ResetForm(frmDataEntry);NewForm(frmDataEntry);Navigate(scrDataEntry,ScreenTransition.UnCover)

In frmDataEntry I have a "Save" button with an OnSelect of...SubmitForm(frmDataEntry).

I do have an OnSuccess screen; however, when "Save" is selected, I can see the record ID change.

I did have a previous question posting (and have received a few responses) but am still having the issue.

    HI @RJF61,

    Could you share a picture of the form? Also, is the Record ID acting as the primary identifier for each record - similar to an internal ID?

    If so, when a new record is created in the data source, the data source typically auto-generates the Record ID (usually by incrementing the max Record ID). This Record ID is then sent back to Power Apps, which displays the newly assigned Record ID.

    Please give the mentioned solution a try and let me know whether it works for you.
    If it solves your issue, feel free to mark this thread as answered.
    Please make sure to like the response!
    Thanks!

    Here is the form.  Yes, the data source is auto-generating the Record ID.

    @Power Apps 1919   So it appears the main issue is only when new records are created.  When existing are created, referencing back to the original is no issue.

    HI @RJF61, can you please elaborate this sentence more 'So it appears the main issue is only when new records are created.  When existing are created, referencing back to the original is no issue.'

    my understanding of the statement is: adding checks when similar/same item is being created in the datasource. u want to update the existing records instead of creating new ones.
    did i get it right or wrong.

    Hi @RJF61,
    I will add a comment here - you are referring to this earlier post which was marked as solved. The fundamental issue may be that the Variable you are setting for the relevant record is not updating on a new record (nor will it as you have not asked it to). As a suggestion, do the following: -
    OnSelect of the Gallery (assuming the gallery Items do not use ShowColumns to restrict the data set fields)
    Set(
       gblRecord,
       ThisItem
    );
    ResetForm(frmDataEntry);
    NewForm(frmDataEntry);
    Navigate(
       scrDataEntry,
       ScreenTransition.UnCover
    )
    Then the Item of the Form
    Lookup(
       SPListName,
       ID = gblRecord.ID
    )
    And OnSuccess of the Form
    Set(
       gblRecord,
       Self.LastSubmit
    )
    The principle here is that the variable gblRecord (call it whatever you want) always contains all the fields of the last record you selected OR created. It is useful in other ways when wanting to refer to any field in the current record (for an email for example) as gblRecord.FieldName and this includes gblRecord.ID
