Creating an app for site inspection to generate a report

Hi,

I am trying to create a inspection app that will let me take photo and comment on my phone and generate all these input into a preset word template format.  Does anyone know if this is possible in the MS power app?  I tried the inspection app and it only saved the data on the app and I cannot generate a report base on those.

Thank you in advance for the help!

    Hi @Anonymous ,

Yes, but you will need a Premium Connector to access the Word connector for the merge. This is not a small process and requires sending the phone photo converted to JSON text, and a Power Automate Flow to stitch it all together.

If you want to pay for the connector, happy to elaborate further.

Hi Warren, thank you for the reply!  Would you think it will be a more cost effective approach to go with a third party off the shelf app instead of going with all the effort to create a MS native app for inspection/field review reporting for a small company?   Just trying to figure out a way to make our daily task more effective.

    Hi @Anonymous ,

The cost/benefit analysis would have to be something for you to consider comparing whatever TP app will do the job. Also it obviously depends on the number of users you have (for the licence cost, which is ongoing while you use the app). The process involved in Power Apps / Power Automate utilizes well-documented (and often used) processes - so writing the app is not a big deal.
