Uploading Large Excel Files to SharePoint Lists

Can someone tell me the easiest way to upload Reeeeally large Excel spreadsheets to SP?

I keep trying the import app in SP and only get half the data into the new list before the system locks up.

I then try to manually paste in the rest. That becomes a circus.

I've got three spreadsheets greater than 10,000 lines that I need to turn into SP List as data sources for a database in Power Apps.

Thanks!

    Hi @Anonymous ,

    Welcome to SharePoint Throttling - here is a good document explaining the policy.

    Unfortunately, the best way I have found is doing the paste in batches of about 100, then waiting a a minute (from the start) before pasting the next lot.

    If you only have to do this once, have a good urn of coffee (or whatever stronger you might like).

    you can use ms access with a linked table to sharepoint. set up an import from the excel into a normal table and then perform an append query from that table into the linked table.

    @Alfons_Peeters ,

    Yes - and I do also on larger lists, but you need both the app and the Access/VB/SQL skills to do this - not a subject I was going to explore/describe on this forum. Also under a couple of thousand records, it is quicker to paste them in than set up a Access App and code.

    Converting each excel sheet into a csv file and then using the import wizard from SP will work. I've done it for 40k+ rows.
