Power Apps Canvas App Limitation with SharePoint Lookup Columns

Hi All,

I would like to know if there is a limitation of powerapps canvas app with SharePoint List as a datasource with Lookup columns. I was reading some articles dated years ago which mentions a limitation of powerapps giving an error when more than 12 lookup columns exist(This includes all person or group fields and date fields)

I would like to know if this limitation still exists. I have a sharepoint list with below columns exceeding more than 12 complex (person, lookup, date) fields. The app is connected to form and it is working as expected and is not throwing any error.
Column Type Count
Lookup 6
Person 4
Date and Time 3
Default(Created, Modified, Modified By, Created By) 4

Anyone is aware about this limitation and if it still exists.

    hey

this is true, the limitation is 12, but i wont suggest using lookup columns in sharepoint anyways. you can also use the lookup function in powerapps directly and get the same results.

if it helped please mark as verifies ;)

    thanks in advance

Thank you for your reply. How will Lookup function help here? Can you please explain. Lookup only returns a single value.

Yes there is a limitation of 12 Lookup/Person columns (there are no issues with Date fields) You can fix this by getting rid of the lookup columns - I have not and will not ever use them as they cause nothing but unnecessary complexity and limitations in Power Apps. They are a historical column type (SharePoint has been around a lot longer than Power Apps) designed for earlier interfaces and do not create any relationships (asmmbr1606 has noted) that cannot be done directly in Power Apps.
