Update Planner Task details with information stored in Dataverse

Hey there,

I'm currently struggling with the following:

Tasks in MS Planner were created by scanning QR-Codes (like for material that need to be re ordered). Behind the QR code is a ID which is then the Title of the Planner task.

Now there is a table in Dataverse with all master data (also the ID) of every stored material (like supplier, price, qty, ...)

is it somehow possible to use the title of the Planner Task as searching keyword to lookup the additional master data in Dataverse and update the Planner task e.g. put the whole master data into the task description with PowerAutomate?

would be very thankful for every help

    Hey Max,

nice to hear, I am a carpenter as well. I do a lot of power platform stuff (www.jpc-wood.com).

in the planner case, I started to store the master data for glue/screws in a SharePoint list and scanned with small PowerApp to lookup the id from the QR in the SharePoint list. Within the app the user adds the required qty, sends it and create a planner task from powerapps (not using Power automate). I use power automate only to archive the tasks.

feel free to contact me through our website to get more details - would be interesting what you are doing.

    Hello @Woody1
I know your post is from a while back but I have a small Carpentry Workshop with 5 workers and I would like to implement an easy ordering flow.
So when they scan a QR-Code with their phone it adds a Task to my Planner which says "Reorder screws, glue etc."
I read your post and I'm curious how you managed to get a QR-Code to add a task to Planner.
    I can't find anything via Google 😕

Can you please point me in the right direction on how to achieve this?
    Thanks and regards,

    Max

    Hi @Woody1

We can use Power Automate to get more information from Dataverse and update its Planner.

    • Create New Power Automate
    • Trigger: Automated Cloud Flow
    • Condition: When a new task is created
    • Steps could be
