I know about this blog where we have to write html and javascript code - Make your Power Virtual Agents bot start the conversation using a custom canvas | Microsoft Power Virtual Agents
I want to know if we can achieve the same using the portal?
Hi @slalithprasad ,
Do you mean Power Apps Portals?
Yes, it'll work well in the Portals.
Power Apps Portals are the same as you can do to your custom website.
@renatoromao no, I mean I want my bot to start the conversation by itself and I want to do it using Power Virtual Agents portal or website not by writing html and javascript which is mentioned in the question.
It's not possible yet, also, Microsoft has no plans to implement it soon.
Follow the planned features here: New and planned features for Power Virtual Agents, 2021 release wave 1 - Power Platform Release Plan | Microsoft Docs

@renatoromao thanks, I have casted my vote 😀
Hi @renatoromao
I wanted to show this active message as soon as the power apps portal is loaded along chatbot. I tried using the script only part from the article into the custom javascript part of the home page but no luck.
Do I need to web template instead which is used by home page?
Thanks
Hi @UmerJaved ,
Did you implement your chatbot within your Power Apps Portals using only the Html and JavaScript codes or using this documentation here as a component?
You cannot merge both implementations.
Hi @renatoromao,
Added the chatbot using the documentation you pointed therefore as a component.
@UmerJaved
So, in that case, you can raise your idea here to start automatically the conversation when is a component within Power Apps Portal because it's not available yet: https://aka.ms/pva/community/ideas
A workaround is to implement a custom canvas (Html, Css, Js) instead of component.
I think it should still be possible whereby chatbot is added as component given there is a web template present for chatbot in portal configuration. Screenshot from Microsoft article also shows the automatic message load on portal when the page loads if we look closely.
See this article and I am trying to use Advanced configuration to embed the code from this article.
How can the bot start the conversation without coding? I have created a simple bot in MS Teams, but can't get the bot to start the conversation. Any suggestions?
