Labour Planning

Hello all,

Hope you are doing great!

I got an idea about an app, please help me to advise if it is feasible to build with Power Apps canvas. This is about labour planning. As per the below table, this is a list of all of my lift/esc installers. The column is the date, ie, which date of the labour plan. Each cell which is the combination of the row - installers and the column - date will be the job site and the task that they are going to work on. I want to have a drop out or a search which the manager can choose which job site and which task need to be carried out at the job site to put in this file. So each of lift (depending on number of stops, product line) the time for each task may be different (please refer to table 2).

So the important point here is that when we assign a task and a job site to a person, there should be a validation for how many hours left (or total per plan if there is no actual hour yet). A manager then can only assign that many days.

Thank you very much for your help.

Table 1:

Installer Name 17/03/2025 18/03/2025 19/03/2025 20/03/2025 21/03/2025 22/03/2025 23/03/2025 24/03/2025 25/03/2025 26/03/2025 27/03/2025 28/03/2025

Would you like a basic prototype setup or help with a specific feature first?

    Hello,

Thank you for your reply. It would be great if you could help me with a basic prototype set up with some explanations.

I am actually from Finance so I have quite limited knowledge about Power Apps.

    Best regards,

I am providing this approach based on SharePoint as Backend DataSource for storing the records.

    Backend Schema
    • Installers Table (List of workers)
    • Projects Table (Stores project details)
    • Tasks Table (Stores task details with duration)
    • Labour Assignments Table (Stores which installer is assigned to which task & project on a specific date)
    UI / Screen

    • Use a flexible Gallery or Data Table to display Installer Name × Date assignments.
    Dropdowns/Search for Assignments:
    • Managers select an installer.
    • Choose a Job Site (Project).
    • Select a Task (Filtered based on the project).
    • Auto-calculate Planned Duration and restrict overbooking.
    Business Process
    • Send notifications if an installer is over-assigned using power automate.

Basis on my understanding i have shared the high level overview this can be tweak as per your requirement and understanding.

    Hope this helps!
