Is there a way to loop back to a previous question when an invalid answer is detected?
For example, I have a topic that asks for an order # and proceeds when an order # is found.
How do I keep looping to the question X amount of times until the user provides a matching order # or exceeds the number of attempts?
Hi @MikkoM
Yes, there is, you need to treat the data if it is not found.I created a situation where the data is not found for you to understand the logic that must be created. For this I used the Power Automate to search the data informed by the user.
As for your search not finding the data you need to define a return parameter and create a validation condition in your topic, so the user will return to the flow of informing the data until it is found.

Right, no way to do this without Power Automate?
Hi @MikkoM, If you already have the data in your stream it is possible. If in your topic the answer is always going to be #, you can put in the condition, if it differs from # it goes back to the input request.
This seems to be no longer possible since a UI change. Cannot find anything in the docs either about how to do this with the current version. I made a very simple scenario where I ask a question, store the entire answer, and make a condition if a certain keyword variable is present in the answer, and then use the 'go to step' to go back to the question. When prompted, this enters an infinite loop and the bot times out.Any idea how to achieve such a loop?
I am stuck in the new authoring canvas and cannot seem to figure out how to go back to a previous step when the supplied answer is No. I did the Go Back to Step and it does nothing.
Hi,We are working on improving this scenario. To unblock yourself, you can open question properties and select "Ask every time":
Hi there,
On the new canvas when you click on the plus button, and then on Topic Management > Go to step . After clicking on Go to step, select the step in the conversation tree on canvas where you want the bot go back to.
Cheers,
Fernando
