Confirmation needed: Does Power Apps per user plan add 10GB of additional database capacity?

Hello experts,

Today I have discovered that the database capacity in our Power Platform has exceeded the current 5.05GB. This 5.05GB is currently coming from a single Power Apps per app plan license we have bought. Now, as our solutions are becoming larger, more database capacity is needed in our tenant.

Now, I need a confirmation from you guys before I make a purchase here. Does canceling the Power Apps per app plan AND buying a Power Apps per user plan increase the total capacity in our tenant to 10GB?

According to this table it should be the case but does it make a difference that I have already bought the per app plan in the past? Will I still get the 10GB boost?

As per this link The first subscription of Power Apps or Power Automate provides a one-time default capacity entitlement for the tenant. For example, a Power Apps per-user plan would set the tenant capacity initially as 10 GB of Dataverse database, 20 GB of Dataverse file, and 2 GB of Dataverse log capacity.
Each additional licensed user provides an additional per-user capacity grant that increases the overall tenant available capacity. (Earlier this was 1.5gb per user. But guess now it is reduced)

While you do this shift please pay attention on the pricing difference.

per user plan comes with $20 per user per month where as per app plan is just $5 per user per month.

Also there are lot of ways you can watch your growing storage capacity. Refer this doc.

Hi Devi,

Thank you for the response. I am aware of the pricing difference between per user and per app plans. But my question was not completely answered.

If I cancel the per app plan (1 license currently) and buy the per user plan (1 license), does the per user plan count as the first subscription and my database capacity will be increased to 10GB?

Would like to get a confirmation before I cancel my subscription.

I’ve had this situation before so I can confirm that as soon as you add your first Power Apps per User license you will get a 10GB boost to your database capacity.

Hi @VilPel

As per the licensing guide, your capacity would increase to 10GB. In my experience with this in the past I didn't need to cancel the per app plan to get this. It definitely does not add 10 + 5 = 15GB.

As you didn't cancel the per-app plan and you are buying the per-user plan, is the total database capacity equal to 15GB?
