For someone who is new to all about Power platform, which amongst the apps should be the first one to learn. should I start with power automate, copilot studio, power apps, or powerBi?

1. Power Apps:

Why Start Here: Power Apps is the core app that lets you build applications, and it provides a great introduction to the entire Power Platform ecosystem. Learning Power Apps first will give you an understanding of how low-code/no-code applications are created, which is foundational when you eventually move on to other tools in the Power Platform.

2. Power Automate:

Why Later: After learning Power Apps, Power Automate should be your next step. Power Automate helps automate business processes and workflows, and often works in tandem with Power Apps. It’s especially useful once you understand how to create and manage apps.

Well, there are a lot of ways to start with Power Platform, and it mainly depends on what would you like to specialize into. It is hard to point out where to start without knowing what’s your goal is, but as a default, I would always start by recommending you do the PL900 learning path, which would be the learning path to the Power Platform fundamentals certification, to which you can access here!

After doing the learning path, you should have a better understanding of what each part of the Power Platform does! And then you can either start creating apps, automations or dashboards to learn by means of trying, or keep on using learning paths to further enhance what you’ve seen in the fundamentals learning path. These paths usually include some practice, which you would be good at reinforcing with your own projects!

Of course, it would be nice if you already have a tenant and a Power Platform developer environment to test out what you can see in the learning paths, so I recommend you look for one if you don’t already have one!

You can also try to look for mentors. I do mentor a few people to try and teach them everything I can, so they can be set up for success in this community!

You can start with Power App or Power Automate. Those are easy for the beginner. Also it depends on your interest and in which you want to be an expert.

Learning Power Apps or Power Automate in a vacuum will be frustrating for you; it's much easier to base it on a real world example of something you want or need to do. With Power Automate try to think of something that you want to automate, for example copying emails with a particular subject to a SharePoint list, then start building that. With Power Apps think of a simple app you could build, for example, countries you have visited. There are lots of very good YouTube videos by the like of Shane Young, Reza Dorrani and others which will show you what to do. That's how I got started with the Power Platform in 2018 when my bosses contacted me (in a bar in Spain, where else?!) and asked if I could investigate building a system with a SharePoint list backend to record the carbon emissions of staff travelling between the office and client sites. That first app changed my entire career!

Start with a problem then apply whichever component of the Power Platform Ecosystem that would allow you to solve the problem.

CoPilot Studio could be fun.

Power Apps and SharePoint could help you in increasing productivity.

There is no specific point which you need to start like that.

This is an Eco-system which comprise of Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, Co-Pilot.

Each and every product will have certain set of capabilities which can be leveraged.

Let see you are citizen developer you need to develop apps for internal purpose - you can start with power apps (canvas).

Same developer, i need to consume some business process associated in the application - start consuming the power automate ( cloud flow ).

I need some insights on the data, i am looking for data driven insights application - Power BI.

I am having premium license in Power apps need more optimized usage with column security and form processing - Power Apps (Model Driven).

Looking for some automation in desktop process and other system - Power Automate (Desktop flows)

Now the buzz of the market AI or chatbot based implementation - CoPilot , AI builder etc.,
