Hi all,
We’re helping a client get on top of their PowerApps governance, and are mid-way through implementing the COE Kit (which we think is some great work). However, one thing we’re running into is that most of the apps being created are canvas PowerApps which use SharePoint as a datasource – as a result, the makers don’t have or need a PowerApps P1 license (or per-user/per-app license under the new model).
That’s fine, but it seems to mean that these users can’t fill out the COE app compliance form, since CDS data is involved here. Has anyone thought about use of the COE kit in such circumstances? Or am I missing something perhaps?
Thanks!
Chris.
Hi Manuela - thanks for the response.
OK, we were coming to similar conclusions ourselves - that we *could* potentially re-engineer the COE kit to talk to SharePoint instead, but it would be quite involved and need changes to quite a few pieces.
Your initial app looks great - I installed it, and I defintely see how it was a forerunner to the COE kit 🙂 One question on that - do you have any more detailed info on the SharePoint list and the columns used at all? Anything like an exported PnP schema or even just something to describe the columns and their types etc?
Thanks!
Chris.
Thanks for the great feedback!
Hope that helps!
Hi @ChrisOBrien ,
Could you please share a bit more about your scenario?
Do you mean that these end users could not fill out the compliance form which connects a CDS Entity?
Currently, within PowerApps, the Common Data Service is a PREMIUM connector, anyone wants to access this connector, he/she must own PowerApps Plan 1 license (new license -- PowerApps Per App plan or PowerApps Per User plan) at least for this account.
Please check if your end users have owned proper license for his account. In addition, if you want these end users to access your CDS, you should also assign a proper Security Role (e.g. Environment Marker) to these users.
More details about assigning a Security Role to users, please check the following article
