Using a user-uploaded file to create generative answer

Hi,

I have a use-case that involves sending a post request to a service using information that should be found in pdf documents. That is, I need Copilot to first gather the appropriate information from a pdf and then send that in a http request. The pdf will be different and contain different information each time a user is to interact with copilot. But I don't see anyway for a user to upload a document and have copilot base it's answers on that particular document?

Thanks for any help and comments.

    Hi,

You can add an action in your topic that is "Generative Answer" action there you will get option to upload file. Then you can set response in variable and use action sent HTTP request to send data along with response variable.

select file for generative response -

    create variable -

you can use this variable in Send HTTP request -

Hope this will solve your problem.

Please mark as solution if it helps.

    Thanks

    Hi Sandeep,

thanks for your response - I really appreciate it. So, the issue is that the Generative Answer should be based on a file that the user would upload and not a pre-defined file. So I cannot specify the document when creating the bot.

The rest of the post is a really nice walk-through of the rest of the process, so I appreciate that!

Unfortunately it's not possible to upload files in Copilot Studio, although it's a feature that is coming soon according to the Release Planner (upload images! not files).
It would be difficult for the Copilot to upload a file, index and process it, and generate answers based on that in real time :S

    Hope that helps!

    Hi Sandeep,

As I said, I (the developer) can't upload file. It has to be the user that uploads it at runtime.

In this example , there is way for end users ( non developer) to directly upload file(s) to Azure Storage, and then send the blob URL to the bot for validation and further processing.
