Hi there,

So yesterday I have upgraded my solution but for some reason all the calculations I have updated didn't change???

Any reason as to why the calculations didn't update?

Thanks in advance,

Billy Cottrell

    @Billy_C

By calculations do you mean Calculated and Rollup columns in Dataverse?

    Hi @CNT,

I mean the Calculation itself of the calculated columns that isn't being updated.

I have added new calculated columns and those are added normally but the calculations of existing calculated fields didn't update with the solution.

    Kind regards,

@Billy_C They are scheduled to run in 12 hours as seen in the doc below. But there are ways to override it.

    Hi @CNT,

It seems as that you are misunderstanding my issue. Its not about the rollup fields its about the formula of the calculated fields that hasn't been change with the upgrade of the solution.

So for example solution 1.0 has a field with the following formula: If A equals 1 then true, but solution 1.1 has the formula: If A equals 1 and B equals 2 then true.

The production has solution 1.0 and sandbox has 1.1, so I upgrade production to 1.1 so it should have the new formula except it doesn't. So Production with solution 1.1 has the formula If A equals 1 then true which isn't correct.

Which is the reason why I am asking why the calculation didn't update with the new solution upgrade.

    Thanks in advance,

@Billy_C did you publish changes before exporting?

  • Billy Profile Picture

    Hi @CNT,

Yes I did, I even republished, ran the inspector and exported and re-imported the solution, but it still didn't change the formula of the calculated fields.

I was thinking to remove the fields to re-add them, but then I would have to remove all the calculated fields that are connected as well since those won't be updated either.

The biggest problem is that this will affect many records and having to remove and re-add those calculated fields will create a ton of manual labour to recalculate those values, especially since its of the most crucial part of our CRM namely Invoices.

I hope that there is a solution that will prevent all that manual labour and data loss.

    Thanks in advance,

@Billy_C I'm really sorry for your situation. I've had strange things happening recently in some other areas and raised a ticket and I was told that it could be because of a Quarterly update.

I suggest you to raise a ticket with MS.

    Hi @CNT,

Thanks for the advice, I have raised a ticket, and apparently it was due to the active solution layer not being updated, so I had to use the classic interface to import the solution and select "Overwrite Customizations" which overwrites or removes the unmanaged layers (as you can see in the screenshot below). So the only thing I had to do was apply some small changes to the formulas of the calculated fields that didn't update. This way it was able to overwrite the solution layers to the new version, so then you just have to revert those small changes and import it the same way again and then everything should be fine.

This solution is thanks to the good support of Microsoft, if it wasn't for them, I probably wouldn't have been able to update the power app any more, luckily it didn't come that far.

    Kind regards,

@Billy_C I'm glad you found a solution. But I don't think this is a permanent solution because myself and others have been facing this issue of Unmanaged layers being added automatically. I have ticket with MS for quiet some time and still they have not found a permanent solution for this. Hope something will happen soon.

Hi @CNT, I know that this isn't a permanent solution, but it does solve the issues where calculated field changes are not being applied!

I really hope that MS will fix this soon, because using this method is not recommended.
