Display all OneDrive folder names in a Power Apps Gallery

I am trying to give users the possibility to choose a folder name from OneDrive, where they can save content.

Is there anyway to do it with the help of Flow and return all the folder names (Id) in a gallery or form or something so they can choose the folder they want?

    Hi @marketingandel ,

Are you looking for any folder that may have been created or a list of folders that you already know about?

The first one would be problematic, but on the second one, a drop down listing then would allow you to dynamically create the path for saving in a Flow.

Is this what you are asking?

The case is this . The user goes into OneDrive to Create a folder with the Project name. They will open the app to store data and save all the content that is attached (pdfs,photos,etc...) into the folder that was created before. I need to be able to select the folders name or id and reference it every time I attach a file. Thats why I was thinking that it could be a good ideea to get a list of folders that reside in onedrive already. The project name should be the same as the folder created previously in OneDrive . Click on it and onselect ill run a flow that is being stored in a variable. Something like that. Let me know if you need more info.

    OK @marketingandel ,

If you have a list as mentioned, you can make Ask in PowerApps part of the folder path in a Flow. I use this to create folders in OneDrive and store files in them from PowerApps, so maybe that it an option you might consider for the first file created.
This is not a difficult process and you could also think about adding to the list any folder a user created in PowerApps that was not already there. The list could reside in the same data source you currently use.

I am probably in a different time zone (Australia) to you, but can give some time to your response in about 10 hours and work it through with you if you need assistance.

It would be amazing if you could do that. I already tried giving them the option to create the folder name from powerapps. It went well until they wrote the wrong project name and when they corrected the name, powerapps+flow made another folder with another ID ofcourse. As far as I know renaming a folder in onedrive from powerapps is not an easy thing. Thats why we agreed that they will create the folder first and then the project in powerapps. The project name should be the folders name in OneDrive. Anyway if you could get back to me it would be great. Thank you.

Ok what time are you generally online. It is 10pm here so if you give me the time difference and the online time, I can adjust it accordingly.

Also can you send me some screen shots, relevant control and field names and a bit of a description of the flow of events in your app.

Im in Danmark, its 13:00 o'clock right now.
You can reach me monday-friday from 9:00-17:00

I attached 2 images. So far the name of the Project is being inserted in the input text field together with the name of the folder that is to be created in OneDrive after we save data in SP list. I got a flow that is listening if any item is being created and it makes a folder in onedrive with the data in the input field saved in share point. I would like give them the opportunity to name the project exactly like the folder in onedrive. So instead of the input text field we should have a dropdown or whatever with the names of all the folders in OneDrive.

    Hi @marketingandel ,

Thank you also @eka24 for your contribution on the user security issues.

I must apologise a little here - we do a lot of work with folders and files directly into OneDrive for different reasons, and I now realise that it may not map to your needs as ours are in the user's OneDrive and I assume yours are in a shared environment. I did a bit of research in both PowerApps and Flow and could not find anything allow management of OneDrive itself other than a user's own. You can connect to an Excel file in a shared folder by the owner connecting the app, but this is not much use to you.

Firstly @eka24 , if you know something contrary to the above, please come into the discussion.

All may not be lost however, the files and folders in SharePoint Document Libraries are actually in OneDrive (the metadata is a list with a URL link to the document) and you can sync them locally like any other OneDrive folder. Our company's entire file library is contained in these and managed like any other file/folder structure with the added ability to be able to add metadata and generate SharePoint views accordingly.

If you can head down this track, happy to help and again my apologies

I see. Where can I see my OneDrive foolders in sharepoint ? Can I make it so that when a folder in onedrive is created a copy of the folder or a link to the folder is shown in sharepoint also. Because then I can use sharepoint as a data source and display them in powerapps. As of now I cant see my OneDrive folders in sharepoint when I open it.

    Hi @marketingandel ,

To sync, simply go to the SharePoint list and choose Sync from the top menu. It will create folders and files on your local drive the same as normal OneDrive folders and files and you can manage them locally. You can also choose Always Keep on this PC or not depending on the storage space you have and the size of the Library. This can be done at a folder level. If not kept on a PC, you are given an icon that will download the file if required.

As mentioned, we manage all, of our files this way. Folders can be created at both the local and SharePoint level.

PowerApps also interacts well with these Libraries and includes the ability to display thumbnails and pictures in galleries, including on mobile devices.

Regarding your question on folders, you simply create them in the SharePoint library as above.

The OneDrive files actually “live” somewhere on your corporate base site, however are accessible either through SharePoint, PowerApps or local OneDrive sync.

I am happy to give you more information on this.
