Reset numbering by years in Dataverse column

hello community
I have a Dataverse column that has an autonumber with this format

It starts with the initials of the year and follows consecutive numbers, however I need that at the beginning of each year it starts counting the numbering at 1 again, for example in 2024 it would be 24-001.

Is there a way to change this in the Dataverse options

This is not possible using the out of the box functionality of dataverse.

The other alternative is to design and implement the autonumbering using your own custom table and plugins with locking mechanism.

Not out of the box. Generally avoid it or create your own from scratch.
In theory you just need to reset the Seed Value when the Year changes (easier said than done). The seed value can be set via code which means you can automate it being reset - but the issue will be knowing the exact moment when it should be reset so you don't get a record just before or after the year change with the incorrect number.

(note: the field itself is just a text field, the logic of formatting and sequence is separate to the field itself e.g. after populating you can change values in the field without impacting the next sequence etc, or change the autonumber format and seed value without impacting existing records)

That the numbering is done separately from the table and is it like inserting the record?

this is the solution, it can be done using power automate

You can further schedule it to run on yearly basis on the first day of the year.
