Dynamic Chatbot using Power Virtual Agents

Hi All,

Power Virtual Agent is more like a workflow where we can add question and add answer to that question within the workflow.

My Question can we make Dynamic workflow or a Dynamic Chatbot like if we want find the customer in that particular city , it simply search in database using an API call or something and send us a response based on the result we get on realtime.

Also can we do it with Dynamics 365??

Hi @Anujk123 - let me respond to your first question. Yes, you can make chatbot dynamic by querying databases and sending related data back. The way you do that is by adding "Action" into your chatbot which is nothing but Power Automate flow and this opens up the door for wide range of integrations with other systems (over 370+ connectors and more). Power Automate will get requests from chatbot and send respond back to chatbot.

Refer to this documentation on how to add Actions in PVA: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-virtual-agents/advanced-flow

As for your second question, you are wanting to integrate PVA chatbot with D365? Yes, you sure can but I believe D365 has its own chatbot offering (Virtual Agents?) so if you have any specific questions on D365 integration I would ask the question in D365 forum.

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks

    Hi @Anujk123,

To supplement a little on the previous post. You can't use Dynamics 365/CDS classic workflows in the chatbot, but like @UdayAdhikari said, you can leverage Power Automate which has many connectors and so you can not only query D365 or CDS but also external APIs and return the response to the bot which can then display the data to the user.

For your 2nd question, D365 is built on top of CDS and therefore all CDS and Power Platform functionalities and capabilities are available in D365 which includes PVA.

    Hope this helps...

@EricRegnier and @UdayAdhikari is it Microsoft Bot framework that comes with D365?

what is the best way to connect FHIR to D365 is PVA or Microsoft Bot framework ??

    Thanks

@Anujk123 - Microsoft Bot Framework is a separate SKU/license is not part of D365. It's a best practice to speak to your Microsoft rep when it comes to licensing.

Can you elaborate on what FHIR is and what you are trying to integrate? Does it have REST API that you can connect to?

    Thanks
