Enforce Use of Latest Published Version of PowerApps

@audrieg

I have an App that is in production.

Whenever I make changes and publish, sometimes users don't get the latest version.

They have to open the app few times (keep refreshing) before they get it.

Is there a way to enforce use of the latest deployed (published) version?

    Hello Gilbert,

    The reason the users don't get the latest version of the applicaion fast enough is most likely related to the fact that the published app needs to be replicated accross different server nodes that the users connect to. I don't think there's a way to prevent this. What you could do however is let the user know that a new version is comming soon. One way to do this would be to have an internal application version which is stored in the database and locally. You will have to update that version when the app is updated. Your applcation can compare those numbers (locally stored one with the one from the database) and display a friednly message (or possibly perform other actions).

    @gokello

    I have a fool-proof method that forces an app update 100% of the time on tablet, mobile, or PC.  Store the app version number in your datasource, then hardcode that same number into your app.  When the app is opened you can check if these numbers are the same.  If not, prevent the user from going any further and give instructions on how to clear the cache/force update.

    If I understand well what Gilbert said...

    When user opens the app, we need to capture in a global variable the app version. Lets call it _userVersion.

    When user start to navigate in the app, we need to capture the current app version stored in a DB. Lets call it _appVersion.

    _appVersion is managed by administrator on every update of the app.

    We could perform actions like exit() function when _userVersion <> _appVersion.
