Multi table in gallery form

Good morning to all,

I am encountering a small difficulty on power apps.

I have an Excel file in which I have :

- 1 PRODUCT table with :

ID_PRODUCT

PRODUCT_NAME

ID_TAG

MANUFACTURE

REFERENCE

1

EVO+32GO

1

SAMSUNG

MB-MC32GA/EU

2

NISE2400

2

NEXCOM

NISE 2400-J1900

- 1 TAG table with :

ID_TAG

TAG_NAME

1

MEMORY

2

COMPUTEUR

In a Powerapps I would like to display a gallery using these two tables to get the result below

ID_PRODUCT

PRODUCT_NAME

ID_TAG

MANUFACTURE

REFERENCE

1

EVO+32GO

MEMORY

SAMSUNG

MB-MC32GA/EU

2

NISE2400

COMPUTEUR

NEXCOM

NISE 2400-J1900

And when I edit this table I would like to have a drop down selection to call the different TAG Names but that the info that goes up in the Excel table is the ID_TAG and not the the TAG_NAME.

Is this possible

Thank you for your help

    Hi @tuonoman ,

    Firstly, this is more complex than it needs to be as you have identically-named fields in both lists, however this should work

    With(
     {PRODUCT as AProduct},
     AddColumns(
     AProduct,
     "IDTag",
     LookUp(
     TAG,
     ID_PRODUCT=aProduct.ID_PRODUCT
     ).TAG_NAME
     )
    )

    Hi WarrenBelz,

     Thank you for your answer. But being a novice on Powerapps I am groping.

    I pasted your formula popositoin but my gallery,

    but it doesn't seem to work. the error message is " an operator was expected. We are expecting an operator such as +,*or & at this stage of the formula"

    Do you have a suggestion or an advice to give me?

    Thank you for your help

    Hi @tuonoman ,

    'Dangers of free-typing without testing. Firstly if you renamed one of the ID_PRODUCT columns, htis would be a whole lot easier, but try this

    With(
     {
     wProduct:
     RenameColumns(
     PRODUCT,
     "ID_PRODUCT",
     "ProdID"
     )
     },
     AddColumns(
     wProduct,
     "IDTag",
     LookUp(
     TAG,
     ID_PRODUCT = ProdID
     ).TAG_NAME
     )
    )

    Hi @WarrenBelz

    unfortunately, It doesn't work.
    I get the message "unexpected characters. The formula contains "ParenCloses" while "ERROR" is expected.

    thank you for your help

    @tuonoman ,

    The syntax is correct as below - please have a look at what you have done different to the example I have done with a couple of test lists

    hi @WarrenBelz,

    Would you be able to give me your Excel Test File.

    Something I don't understand, I can't figure out what it is.

    Thanks

    Hi @tuonoman

    From your screenshot, you appear to be running Power Apps in French.

    timl_1-1604004502335.png

    Note that in French, we use the semi-colon character in places where we would normally use the comma character in English.

    Can you try adapting Warren's formula to take into account this variation in syntax?

    With(
     {PRODUCT as AProduct};
     AddColumns(
     AProduct;
     "IDTag";
     LookUp(
     TAG;
     ID_PRODUCT=aProduct.ID_PRODUCT
     ).TAG_NAME
     )
    )

    Thanks @timl ,

    @tuonoman one of the things you will learn when looking at Microsoft reference doc code and posting on the forum is that some European syntax is different to examples you will see. For instance instead of a comma , you use a semi-colon ; and instead of a semi-colon ; you use two of them ;;

    Unless you post code, we generally have no way of detecting what you are using. This should work

    With(
     {
     wProduct:
     RenameColumns(
     PRODUCT;
     "ID_PRODUCT";
     "ProdID"
     )
     },
     AddColumns(
     wProduct;
     "IDTag";
     LookUp(
     TAG;
     ID_PRODUCT = ProdID
     ).TAG_NAME
     )
    )

    Hi@WarrenBelz, Hi@timl

    Thanks to both of you

    No matter how much I follow your advice, it doesn't work.

    I have a lead to submit to you.

    My tables are in 2 different tabs.

    Can this be a problem?

    please see my file

    Hi @tuonoman

    No, it doesn't matter if your tables are into separate tabs in your Excel spreadsheet.

    One thing I also notice in your screenshot is that you have a control selected, and it's possible that you may have entered the formula against some other property of this control. I can't see for certain because the property name is missing in your screenshot.

    Can you confirm that you have applied the formula to the Items property of your gallery control?
