issues with resizing the data cards

Hi,

I want to change the layout of a form. switched the Layout column to 12 to fit to grid.

It happens very often, that I take the mouse and klick a dot just to expand or to shrink the data card and suddenly it is shrinked to zero width. That happening 8 of 10 times and it makes it almost impossible to make progress.

Sadly I got no Win10 machine so I cannot install the PowerApp Client for now. I am working with Chrome which works much better than IE.

Any hint how to avoid this??

Use the left pane to switch between controls and update the height and with properties in the right pane to update the size instead of dragging the dots to change the size.

Hi @SonjaK,

Like @Rebetcha suggested, we usually change the PowerApps controls' size by set formulas on their size related properties not by expanding or shrinking using mouse. For Size and location properties in PowerApps, please refer to:

Can I ask why have the "dots' that look so tempting, when they are not a reliable way to adjust the sizes?

In some cases they work fine and quick in other cases not. In case of controls within a gallery it simply is not.
I like that I have a choice.

Hi!

May i have some comments on these attributes of Powerapps?
First of all: If this Powerapps is intended to be a "drag-n-drop" & "simple-to-use" application-maker, then it should reduce the use of formulas in every possible situation.
Second: My main problem -i came across when tried to resize the cards, input fields and labels within a form- is that i cannot select every component together in every card to set the same values for width or height. I have to define these values (or formulas) individually for every component. There should be a CSS integration in Powerapps i think. With that i would have to write only this:
input {width: 200px}
Is there any hope for something like this in the near future ? 🙂

PLEASE don't mark this sort of reply as an 'answer'. It isn't. the app has a bug, dragging width sometimes sets width to 0. If the issue is marked as having an answer, then the developers of powerapps won't see anhy reason to fix the bug.

Agreed. In my case, their 'solution' doesn't even work. Editing the properties on the right hand side still results in the field snapping to zero width.
This is terribly frustrating since I created a test app previously and it worked correctly.
Now that I've informed my managers that I have a solution to our needs, and they've instructed me to proceed, I've suddenly and inexplicably hit a brick wall. Again. Just like the other numerous occassions where the Office 365 platform promises something, only for it to be restrictive in the most arbitary and unpredictable ways.

Based on your latest response I re-read your initial question. You are talking about resizing the cards on a form. I totally missed that at the time of my first reponse.
There are a couple of tricks your need to know about resizing cards in a form. And I have to admit that making the form behave exactly as you want is not as straight forward as you would think and it sometimes really is a p in the b to change it the way you like it.
I might be able to help you to get it fixed. Can you please share a screenshot of your current form including the properties pane? And a description which cards you would like to resize?

any update on this? I am finding that every time I need to modify my form, a data card is shown with a missing area where the next data card should be. This causes all the cards to shift. When I try to correct it the width is set to zero and then I need to retype in the data card size in order for it all to show correctly. I can't seem to work around this and can't seem to find out why a data card spot is skipped almost every time I edit card. I am using a custom cards but that is not the ones being affected.

I found my x and Y values (shown in the advanced tab/pane) where off so this may be related to why I am seeing this strange behaviour. I would be curious to know if others who see their width go to zero if the X and Y data card postions where a factor in this problem.
