Creating reports

ReportReport

Since Dataverse currently does not support creating reports inside its environment, is there a way to automate a process to export reports to Excel and then have Excel create a predefined report?

I have the same question (0)

    Hi @Tal22 ,

There are a number of reporting tools for model-based Power Apps

    1. You can build SSRS reports with FetchXML and load them into the Reports area of Power Apps (https://netwoven.com/microsoft-power-platform/creating-ssrs-report-for-dynamics-365-online-and-model-driven-powerapps/
    2. You can build Microsoft Word and Excel Templates in Dataverse (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-apps/maker/model-driven-apps/templates-overview
    3. You can build reports with Power Automate with Word Templates and Dataverse (https://youtu.be/ntFDddYbcNE
    4. There are also great external tools that require license fees (https://www.mscrm-addons.com/Products/DocumentsCorePack

How about Power BI? They have dashboards as well as paginated reports

Thanks, but this won't work for my users. My organization does not have Dynamics subscription. In any case, these workflows would be too complicated for non tech people. Perhaps, someday, MS will make user friendly software for citizen users. In the meantime, I'm back to Access as it is the most user friendly tool available to my organization.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, my organization does not have Power BI Pro.

@Tal22 Hi Tal22. If you have a power apps subscription you can use the PDF Function in a canvas power app to create a report . Further you can save that report to SharePoint for a good report / document management flow, or of course save it in the Dataverse table.

If only 1 user needs to create the report and the others only want to view it, then 1 power app subscription to create the report should be enough . And the other users can view the report saved in SharePoint.

A helpful video on PDF Function:

However having a power app subscription for all users will be needed if they all want to create/interact with the reports for eg dashboards, create an invoice etc

Also I believe Access can read Dataverse data so you could continue to use dataverse to store / modify data and Access to make reports.

PowerBI has a free version too but I believe you cannot share reports in that version and probably there are other limitations i am unaware of.

Thanks, I'm developing in Access and connecting to Dataverse tables then creating mobiles apps from that platform. The process of creating reports and queries in Access is something my users can readily learn. I wish we had the full version of Power BI but that is not in our non profit budget.
