Theme Change Is Not Applying in Model-Driven App

Hi all,

For a model-driven app I'm building, I wanted to customize the theme. Hence, I followed the steps provided in this Microsoft Learn article . I got to create the new theme, I published it, it was obviously noticeable in Dynamics 365, but, when I access my app, I see that no change occurred. Yes, I can see my company's logo on the header, but no color changed for any of the app components. Is anyone able to help with this?

Thanks in advance.

    Hello @Sierra41089

If you are sure that the theme is already selected in the app settings, please try to clear your browser cache and refresh the app. Sometimes, changes to the theme won't be immediately visible if the browser cache hasn't been cleared.

Hi @cha_cha , thanks for the idea. I just cleaned the cache and refreshed the app and the issue persists. Didn't mentioned it before, but even if I can notice some changes in the edit mode, these are not noticeable at all in the play mode.

    Hello @Sierra41089

Can you please confirm if you have managed to publish the App?

    Hi @cha_cha ,

Sure, I published the app and keep experiencing the same issue.

    Hi @Sierra41089 ,

I just tried this and am experiencing the same issue actually. The theme is displayed correctly when editing the app, but reverts back to "PowerPlatform Purple" when I hit Play. I tried this also in an anonymous window with the same result - very odd.

    Anyone else fancy a try?

    Hi @Sierra41089 ,

I just found out that in my case it did not work because I had the "Try the new look and feel" option enabled in app settings. Accordig to the documentation, customisations do not yet work with this: Modern, refreshed look for model-driven apps (preview) - Power Apps | Microsoft Learn

Maybe that is it for you?

    Cheers,

    Max

    Hi @Kikoger

I checked that and was exactly my case. It is now solved. Thank you a lot!

I have exactly the predicament as the OP, and have tried all steps above, including the toggle on/off of the "Try the new look and feel" option, but to no avail.  I have cloned themes, created new themes and published them, all with a black Navigation bar (tried both #010000 and #000000) - but still the Office purple remains on the live "Play" of my app, but not on the designer and Admin settings everywhere else in the environment..

Anyone else discovered any niggles here that stop the Themes from applying to a Model Driven App?

This at least got the Nav Bar color to change. None of the other customizations take effect, but it looks good enough until Microsoft gets back around to this.

Good on you for noticing the fine print, thanks.

    Hi,

I have followed this topic, and also find myself in a similar poistion.

Does anyone have any information on whether there is a long term view of when Microsoft may allow theming of Model Driven Applications? e.g. Branding the colour theme, changing the header logo etc. This is primary to fit in with a corporate branding rather than the Purple Branding as of now.
