Import an excel data into data verse table with column formatting

Hello Everyone,

I have an excel sheet that I need to Import data into data verse. I have not created any table and would like to go from uploading the excel sheet and create the table (create a new table). During this import I have some date fields inside the excel sheet and would like to create those columns(date, currency, number) in data verse table with the same column type. I did create a table with column types and imported previously. But I have few sheets with large columns and would like to use the create as new table functionality.

Can anyone please suggest or help me how can I have different column types while creating importing data.

Thanks in advance!

    Hi @KrishR ,

Are you utilizing a Dataflow from the Excel file to create the table?  Check out this video to show example and how you can use Power Query to define / manipulate the columns and import into a new Dataverse table.

    Hi @dpoggemann ,

Thanks for the response. No, I'm not using any flow. I will have a lot of migrations to data verse and would like to load all the data to data verse from excel sheet. And the column formatting is something I would like to see if its possible to have it done during the import. As posted above I would like to see if I can have Import as a new table and map or match to the actual column format from excel like date format from excel to have date format while creating new table in dataverse.

Hope I answered your question clearly.

Thank you so much again 🙂

    Hi @dpoggemann ,

Apologies, I read it as a you're referring to a MS flow. Hope the vide you posted will be helpful. Will try that. Thank you so much again.
