Auto refresh view in Dynamics / Model Driven App

Hi all,

today a colleague raised a request which I have been faced in the past too but I have no answer to it.

It's about automatically refreshing views in Dynamics / Model Driven Apps. I know there is a refresh button and sure browser can also be refreshed, but what the users are looking for is an automated option to a specific entity. As far as I know there is no option to bind custom JS to views, so this also no option to use.

Any ideas?

Some background: The users run customer service and have a connected mailbox which automatically creates new cases. If they are running any of the views, the users won't recognize if there is anything newly created. So they ask for auto update.

I already thought about setting up some interactive dashboard or a Kanban view (to case or better work items?) which might provide this kind of auto refresh we are now looking for, but it has been some time for me not actively working on this part of the system, so I don't remember what's possible out of the box.

Thanks in advance for any guidance

Hi @shashankbhide thanks for those ideas! I think I will do a try on that canvas page idea.

@shashankbhide - good idea with the custom canvas page! Add a timer control and a gallery and away you go!

If you're using customer service workspace (CSW) or Dynamics Omnichannel app then you can use case assignment notifications to notify the users.

another way is to create a custom canvas page embedded on a model driven app which is looking for the new cases and showing a notification.

LBNTL, If you've a form where you've a grid placed, then you can automate it via a timer based JS.
