Hi all PowerApps experts,

I want to create a map apps in which I can add to the map some data from a SQL Server table as annotations. The ideal result is shown in the attached png file.

- Can I add the annotation to the map with PowerApps?

- I created a map tile with all the region labels. Can I place it on top of the Bing map?

Thank you.

    Hi @mochabits,

Do you want to display a Map within PowerApps app?

If you want to display a Map within PowerApps app, I think the Image control and Bing Maps Imagery API or Google Static Maps API could achieve your needs.

More details about displaying a Map within PowerApps app using Image control, please check the following blog:

    https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/image-control-static-maps-api/

For your first question, if you want to add the annotation to your map, I think you could consider add a pushpin within your map. The formula to display a Map with a annotation within an app as below:

    EncodeUrl(txtLocation.Text) &
    "/15?mapSize=" & txtImageWidth & "," & txtImageHeight &
    "&pp=" & txtLocation.Text & ";21;I+am+here&key=" & /* <-- specify pp property within the HTTP URL to add the annotation(pushpin)*/
    txtBingMapsKey.Text

More details about the pp (pushpin) Map parameter within Bing Maps Imagery API, please check the following article:

    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff701724.aspx#Anchor_4

For your second question, please check and see if the following article would help in your scenario:

    Best regards,

    Kris

    Hi,

PowerApps alone has limited support for adding dynamic annotations from SQL Server or overlaying custom map tiles. However, you can achieve this by using a specialized mapping solution that integrates with Dynamics 365 and Power Platform. It allows you to plot SQL data as pushpins or labels and supports adding custom tile layers on top of Bing/Azure Maps. This way, your map can reflect region labels, live data, and spatial insights. No custom coding is required, just configuration. It's a simple way to extend PowerApps mapping functionality with advanced GIS-like features.

    Thanks,
    Sam
