I see potential, but likely need iOS

Hello all,

I can imagine great potential with PowerApps but worry when I see the reviews of how many people have issues yet with crashing, bugs, and other major issues.

I currently use Power BI for mostly anything I cannot do smoothly with Excel (not bogging it down terribly).

But currently our company is only using Windows 7 on all computers and most fellow employees and Executives use iPads and iPhones so without having iOS and Windows 7 capability, I don't believe I would ever get the opportunity to utilize PowerApps for a few years until we upgraded to Windows 10.

Does anyone happen to know if iOS support is in the near future or future at all? If it at least had the ability to run easily on iPhones and iPads I could then push to get myself Windows 10 at least to create apps others could use on their devices instead of their work computers.

Not entirely sure what you are asking: PowerApps apps run on iOS today. If you use a modern browser on Windows 7 you can create PowerApps using the web version of Studio. The lack of Windows 10 stops you from using the Windows version of Studio, that is all.

Ok, so I can create App's using the Web Service version? And if I complete something, i will be able to share it with a coworker using an iPhone to test it?

I appreciate your help, thank you!

Yes, and yes! So long as your co-worker is in the same Active Directory [aka Tenant] as you.

The iOS was the first mobile option, then Android, then Windows 10 Mobile.

But what makes PowerApps amazing is that it is universally available because it can run in all web browsers--it's a game changer!

Can you explain a little differently what you mean by Active Directory - Tenant? We are a pretty small office overall. Does this have to do with the MS Office Workgroup or something related to the data being used (say from our SQL database)?

Try this and see if you can Share an app to the other users:

Thank you Andy! I'm getting started on the Learning stages so I can work on creating an App using the Web Service then I will use that link to work on sharing with my coworker that would be the first tester.

    Hi @DataGuru311

Rest assure you that you will not regret to use Ms. PowerApps.

    Main reason:

    1. MS is always part of our life in Productivity since Win 1.0 (I started using Win 1.0 until Win 10)

    2. PowerApps is a cross-platform apps creater, either using PowerApps Studio (run on Win 10) or Web PowerApps on all modern browser

    3. Once sign-up and sign-in, you can always access thru Web.PowerApps.com (or even home.dynamics.com) to view, to share, to create Entities (use CDS, Dropbox, Onedrive, Connect to Excel,..)
    4. Once apps is saved on Cloud, it can be view on iOS (9 and above), Android (5 and above), Win Phone (3GB) and Win 10.

    5. If the apps is to be used by your colleagues, even how small an office is, and as long as they have sign-up/sign-in to PowerApps, using work mail with similar doman (@workmail.com,..) then you can share for them to view / view & edit ,... with various access rights.
    6. You can create with Tablet Apps (I would rather say Landscape mode) or Mobile Apps (Portrait mode), and creation of apps is ust like viewing PowerPoint (PPT) except you need to refer to https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/tutorials/getting-started/ to learn on apps creation.

    7. I would suggest you start with:

    - section under Reference: understand....

You may learn some complete examples with codes provided, in PowerApps Community Blog.

    Hope this helps.

    TQ and enjoy apping.

Thank you for the extra explanations! I'm been very happy with the progression of Power BI and MS's commitment to monthly improvements. These user communities dedicated to each particular program is perfect allowing suggestions, voting for improvements, and really helps out when something new arises I need to look up.

Since I can at least use the Web Service to create Apps and will be able to share with colleagues to use on their iPhones, I'm giving this a big 100% go now.
