Power APP + Dataverse End User License Workaround / Power Apps Licensing, Pricing & User Plans

Hello All,

We've created a Power App with backend tables linked to Dataverse. I have a few questions:

1. Is it necessary to acquire a license for each end-user when sharing our solution?

2. If so, what is the cost per user, and is it billed on a monthly basis?

3. Are there any workarounds to share this with the most cost-effective approach?

4. Do you have any recommended best practices for this scenario?

Thank you.

    Hi @Saranga99 ,

    1. If the backend is full Dataverse and not Dataverse for Teams then yes, you would need a Power Apps Per App license (at a minimum) for each user of the application.  There is also a pay-as-you-go license as well if you have very sporadic use...
    2. Cost of a Power Apps Per App license is list of $5 per user / month for commercial companies (i.e. not education, government, non-profit).  This would provide access to one app for the user in one environment.   There is Power Apps Premium license, $20 per user / month, which would provide unlimited apps for the user...
    3. No real workarounds here as this is a premium connector.  If you have a simple data model and could build the application with a SharePoint list backend that might be an option.  Canvas Power Apps with SharePoint backend would qualify to utilize Office 365 licensing and users with most licenses here would qualify, see licensing guide for details.

Overall, sometimes it is hard to justify the first application but if you start building multiple applications with Power Apps and Dataverse it will pay for itself quickly!  Take a look at building model-based Power Apps on top of Dataverse as well as this is a true no-code environment with ability to build enterprise scale applications very rapidly.
