Excel Upload and Save in SQL via an API through PowerApps

Hi All,

The following is the requirement,

  • User Has to choose an excel file using a Browse File option and click on Upload
  • The excel file can be transferred to an API through a binary stream so that API can read the contents and save the details in Database
  • Or the Excel data can be read in to a data table and passed as a data table parameter to an API. The Selection of Excel file must be dynamic

Please  guide us in detail steps ,

Thanks in advance,

Regards,

umk

    Hi @umk,

I am afraid currently it is not possible to full fill the requirements.

Firstly, PowerApps currently could upload file through the attachment control, but it has limitations, as this control could only work with Sharepoint lists or CDS entity, only within a form control can it be used to upload or delete files,

For file uploader, see the following idea:

Upload File to Cloud / OneDrive / Sharepoint

Secondly, for Excel content, it would need to take use of the Excel connector within PowerApps to extract the data directly from Excel file, and I am afraid it is not possible to change the file name during App runtime.

A workaround here is to take use of Microsoft Flow to pick up the selected file, and then pass the excel file content back in PowerApps.

    Regards,

    Michael
