Hi all,
I came across the problem that for some of my users without the sys admin role a lookuptable field is locked in a MDA Form.
The permissions append/read etc. are set properly as I got it to work.
The lookup field is a custom tbale referenced only in that form, there is no more visible navigation inside the app, which in the best case should stay like that.
The only way it is working for users is if the lookup table is visibly shown in the navigation. Even when the views and forms are added in the hidden section of the app, the field is locked.
Asking AI for help stated that explicitly for custom tables the table must be added to the app, as also stated in MS Learn (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-apps/maker/model-driven-apps/team-entity-lookup)
I for sure can hide the navigation tab via rules, scripts etc. but is it anywhere stated that the entire table must be included as active navigation tab inside the app?
Any other tip to overcome that issue?
Just curious to know if there is some real documentation except the trainingdata of an AI.
This is accurate behavior, even if it's annoying behavior, what you are experiencing is what you should be. Again, it stinks but it is in fact correct for it to act like that.
It's not a well... well documented thing it just is how it is because in fact the system itself has always worked this way. what I mean is, the app itself has no direct knowledge about the table because it cannot be accessed by a non-admin in that configuration.
I would go here and post here and possibly one of them may share any actual docs, because I never saw it even as an FTE (Leader architect on the platform for all partners, isvs, customers, ftes) just didn't exist.
I hope you can get them to share :-) or update the docs... I never did.
lol
