Hi everyone,
I am trying to create an AI chatbot in Microsoft Teams using Copilot Studio. My goal is to use the "Knowledge" feature to upload documents (PDF/Word) and have the bot answer questions based on them, similar to NotebookLM.
However, I am facing the following issues:
Stuck in "Classic" version: Every time I create a new copilot within Teams, it automatically becomes the "(Classic)" version.
Missing "Knowledge" tab: I don't see the "Knowledge" or "Generative AI" menu on the left sidebar.
AI Features limited: In the Settings > AI capabilities, I can only see "Topic overlap detection," and there is no option to upload documents or add websites for generative answers.
What I've tried:
Clicking the "Try the new studio experience" banner at the top, but it redirects me to the web version of Copilot Studio.
Creating multiple bots, but they all end up being "Classic" versions.
Environment:
I am using Copilot Studio within Microsoft Teams.
My organization has a Microsoft 365 business license.
Is there a specific setting or admin-level permission required to enable the "New Studio" and "Knowledge" features within the Teams app? Or is this feature restricted in certain regions/licenses?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
This behavior is expected.
The Copilot Studio app inside Teams currently uses the Classic experience, which means:
This is not a permissions or licensing issue.
To use Knowledge (PDF/Word upload, websites, etc.), you need to create your copilot in the new experience:
