To my knowledge, JS cannot be directly used in Canvas Apps in Power Apps. You may be looking for PCF.

I presume that you are referring to the HTML text control which allows HTML and CSS.
Why would you want to use JavaScript directly in PowerApps? Yes, there could be many reasons but they would all create vulnerabilities which is why only components and connectors which provide an isolation layer can use JavaScript.

JavaScript is a major component of Power Apps, which include Model Driven Apps.

So if the person is referring to Model-Driven is more than a fair and safe suggestion. There are not "massive" vulnerabilities etc.
Canvas Apps are a different story, although there are way to connect it to JavaScript, but I do not recommend it, simply because its not a base thing to do.

Since JavaScript is usually used for Updating Data, Calling External Apis, triggering Power Automate Flows from a Model Driven App, changing how the Ux looks (In Model Driven Apps) and much more, if you mean there its completely fine

If you mean in Canvas Apps, then we would be happy to help look at alternatives, like @w.p suggestion, PCF Controls, Canvas App Controls, Connectors (to access pretty much anything from your app in real-time) etc.

We just need a little more details :-) to help you. If you do in fact mean the HTML Control @ronaldwalcott mentioned, then it would not be suited for that use.
