Subject: Issue achieving edge-to-edge Portrait layout for Letter-sized (8.5" x 11") reports in Canvas Apps

Problem Description:

I am developing a report within a Power Apps Canvas App that must be optimized for printing on standard US Letter-sized paper (8.5 inches by 11 inches). Based on standard 96 DPI printer requirements, I am aiming for a screen resolution of 816 x 1056 pixels to ensure the aspect ratio is correct.

However, I am facing a layout discrepancy between my current app screen and the required output:

Current State (Image 2): The screen contains excessive white space/margins on the left and right sides. The data fields and horizontal lines do not stretch to the edges of the page, making the report look narrow and unformatted.

From here in canvas app need to remove the space from left and right

Required State (Image 3): The report needs to be "edge-to-edge," where the horizontal lines and data labels occupy the full width of the 8.5" page, matching the Dynamics 365 print format.

Technical Context:

I am currently using the "Portrait print" screen template and have placed all elements within a PrintContainer1.

My current Display settings (as shown in the provided screenshot) are still set to Landscape with a 16:9 Default size and Lock aspect ratio turned ON.

I am unable to get the Canvas App to accurately represent the 816 x 1056 pixel layout required to eliminate the side margins seen in the print preview.

Goal:

I need to eliminate the extra white space on the left and right sides of the canvas so that the app's visual design (Image 2) matches the layout density and width of the desired output (Image 3).

Did you change the settings in the app to use Responsive Design?  Unless you set the app to Responsive layout you will not be able to control the actual pixel output of any screen.  Once you set the App layout to Responsive you will be able to specify the exact size of screens and containers using Pixels.

    Hi @Inkey Solutions,

Probably here is the clue, the app screen is still set to Landscape with a 16:9 aspect ratio and locked aspect ratio, while you want to use the Portrait print screen template sized for US Letter (816 x 1056 pixels).

    1. We need to addres the app screen size and  orientation

    App Settings-->

    • Change the screen size from Landscape (16:9) to Custom
    • Set the width to 816 and height to 1056 pixels.
    • Turn off the "Lock aspect ratio" option to allow the custom size.

    2. Adjust your PrintContainer

    • Set the container’s width to 816 pixels.
    • Set its X position to 0 so it aligns flush with the left edge.
    • Ensure all controls inside the container have their widths set to fill the container (e.g., 816 pixels) and X positions set to 0.

    3.  Let's Remove any padding or margins on the container or controls that add extra white space

I am sure some clues I tried to give. If these clues help to resolve the issue brought you by here, please don't forget to check the box Does this answer your question? At the same time, I am pretty sure you have liked the response!
