Agent answers in SharePoint and Edge side panel don't have hyperlinks, but full experience does

I have an agent created in Copilot Studio (lite) and one that was created in SharePoint that both have similar behavior where answers that include links are rendered as just text when using the agent in SharePoint from the Agent Link web part, or from the Edge side panel. If the agent is opened in the full Microsoft 365 Copilot app experience, the URLs are clickable hyperlinks. Is there a way to improve the SharePoint and Edge side panel experience to allow those to be regular hyperlinks? Image below for an example of the side by side. I'm not sure if there is any admin configuration, or if this the result of a security mechanism, or perhaps a known limitation. Any insight is appreciated! Brian

    Hello ,

    This behavior is expected today.

It is caused by UI rendering differences and security restrictions in the SharePoint “Agent Link” web part and the Edge side panel. These surfaces sanitize or downgrade rich content, which causes URLs to appear as plain text, while the full Microsoft 365 Copilot app renders rich Markdown, including clickable links. There is no admin setting today that enables hyperlink rendering in those two surfaces.

The different behavior comes down to where the agent is rendered:

This sanitization is intentional and not configurable—there are no admin settings, tenant policies, or agent options to enable hyperlinks in SharePoint or Edge.
SharePoint Agent Link web part and Edge side panel use a restricted Copilot UI designed for security. They sanitize output aggressively, stripping Markdown, HTML, and hyperlinks, so links show as plain text.
The full Microsoft 365 Copilot app supports full Markdown rendering, so formatted links, lists, and tables work as expected.
