I am currently working on a Power Automate project using AI Builder for document/data extraction.
However, I have consumed all AI Builder credits for this month, and my flows are now blocked.
I would like to understand the best way to continue:
1. Is it possible to use Copilot credits instead of AI Builder credits?
2. Can we enable a pay-as-you-go model via Azure for AI Builder or Copilot?
3. Is there a way to purchase a small amount of credits (not a full monthly plan)?
4. What is the recommended approach to continue testing without waiting for next month?
For now, I am considering using OCR as a temporary workaround, but I would like to finalize testing with AI Builder.
When AI Builder credits are exhausted, flows stop running, there is no native small credit top‑up or classic pay‑as‑you‑go model for AI Builder.
Key points:
AI Builder uses pre‑allocated credits only (seeded or add‑on).
During the transition period (now through Nov 1, 2026), flows run in dual‑mode:
Consume AI Builder credits first
Fall back to Copilot Credits if available
Block if both are exhausted
Copilot PAYG via Azure can work as a fallback only if Copilot Credits + billing are enabled in the environment.
There is no option to buy a small/top‑up credit pack.
Recommended approaches:
Short term: use OCR or reduce test volume.
Medium/long term: plan migration to Copilot Credits, as AI Builder credits (including seeded) are fully removed after Nov 2026.
