Hi,

what exactly are the 'Owner (user)' and 'Owner (team)' columns in Dataverse when there is already a 'User' column that can contain a user or a team, and how are the read-only fields set, when and where?

'Owner (user)' and 'Owner (team)' columns

Owner (user) column in Dataverse -> refers to a single user who has ownership of a record, while the

Owner (team) column in Dataverse -> indicates that a group of users (a team) collectively owns the record.

These columns determine access and security privileges, as a user can inherit permissions from the records they individually own and from the teams they are a part of.

How the values are being set

If you worked on sharepoint there are few system columns such as created, createdby, modified, modified by in the same there are few columns in the dataverse as well.

When you set the ownerid field to a user, Dataverse populates Owner (user) with that user’s ID and leaves Owner (team) empty.

When you set ownerid to a team, Dataverse populates Owner (team) and leaves Owner (user) empty.

You cannot update them manually, they are maintained internally by Dataverse.

    Hi,

Yes, that would make sense, and that's what I thought too, but:

    Although they say:

"When you set the ownerid field to a user, Dataverse populates Owner (user) with that user’s ID and leaves Owner (team) empty."

Nothing has happened with Dataverse, as you can see in the image, even though a user is entered in the owner field.

If a team is entered in that field, nothing happens with the other two fields either.

    Kind regards
