How to retain a Power Pages trial website in a Development environment after trial expiration?

Hi Community,

I have developed a Power Pages website in a Dev Sandbox environment, which is a trial site. The trial site is approaching its expiration date, and I'd like to continue maintaining and developing the site without losing my work.

What are the recommended options to keep the Power Pages site in a Development environment?

Can a trial environment be converted to a Developer environment?

Is it possible to move the Power Pages website to another Development environment?

What steps should I follow to preserve the site, Dataverse data, and configurations before the trial expires

Would purchasing a Power Pages per site per user license allow me to retain and continue using the existing site/environment after the trial expires, or would migration to a licensed environment still be required?

Any guidance or best practices would be greatly appreciated.

To retain a Power Pages trial, you can extend the trial period by 30 days or convert the site to a production environment before the expiration date. If the trial expires, the site is suspended and you have a 7-day grace period to convert it before it is deleted.

My requirement is slightly different. I understand that the trial environment can be extended or converted before expiration. However, I would like to know whether it is possible to extend the Power Pages site trial itself, rather than extending or converting the entire environment.

If the site was created under a Power Pages trial, is there a way to keep the site in a development state and continue working on it without converting the whole environment to production? Alternatively, would assigning a Power Pages license (per site or per user) allow the existing site to remain active?

Could you please clarify this scenario?

There is no separate mechanism to extend a Power Pages site trial on its own.

The supported approach is to ensure that the environment remains active and that appropriate Power Pages licensing/capacity is assigned before the trial

entitlement expires.

If the site contains important development work, do not rely solely on the trial. Back up the site, export the configuration, and either:

Assign the necessary Power Pages licensing to continue using the existing site, or

Migrate the site to a long-term Development, Sandbox, or Production environment using standard Power Platform ALM practices.

This is the safest and most sustainable approach for ongoing Power Pages development.

below the answer to your questions based on MS docs .

1. Can the trial site itself be extended separately from the environment?

No. If your trial site is created in a trial environment, it expires after 30 days or when your trial environment expires, whichever is earlier. The site trial and environment trial are linked.

2. Can you keep the site in a developer environment?

No. You can't convert a trial website to production in a trial or developer Power Platform environment. Conversion requires a sandbox or production environment.

3. Will purchasing a Power Pages license keep the site alive?

Purchasing a license alone doesn't prevent expiration. You need to actively convert the site from trial to production using the Power Pages admin center AND the environment must be sandbox or production.

Recommended path for your situation: before the trial expires, either convert the environment to sandbox/production first, then convert the site, OR migrate the site to an existing sandbox environment. As you work on projects and need to establish permanent sites that don't expire, you can apply Power Pages subscriptions and convert websites from trial to production.

There was no extend trial option.

I went with Pay-as-you-go and assigned the required Power Pages capacity to the environment.

After that, I was able to convert the trial site to a Production site and retain the existing Power Pages site without needing to migrate it.

The site, Dataverse data, and configurations were preserved.
