Control Icon Bug

I'm having an issue with a PowerApp for Teams where all control icons are appearing as squares. Combobox down arrows are squares, date picker calendar is a square, etc. This occurs only on desktop in Teams application and browsers but not on Mobile Teams or PowerApps app. Any idea what would cause this?

this could be compatibility issues, is the browser up to date? Have you tried to access your app in a different browser? Have you tried clearing your browser's cache?

Yes, I've tried everything you suggested but still no luck. I noticed on mobile, the icons for date picker and combo box are there but within the date picker the arrows are missing.

Was this previously working in the version of your app or has this been like this ever since? Maybe you could try reverting the power apps version to the most stable build not the latest one. This might do the trick.

You can see the authoring version by clicking the settings -> go to support tab -> click edit under the "Authoring Version" try different versions and test. Also let us know if your app is using the latest version because this might be the case where the latest update has made the images unresponsive due to some changes.

If this solves your problem, don't forget to mark it as the answer and give it a like! 😊 Your feedback helps others in the community. Thank you and happy learning power apps! 💻💡

The icons haven't always been boxes and it was working correctly in the past, so you may be correct that it is a version issue. Current version is 3.25013.15 (recommended). I tried reverting as far back as I could to version 3.25011.13 and the problem is still there. I tried going forward to 3.25021.7 and 3.25014.15 as well and no luck.

I didn't just recently notice this issue, I had first noticed it maybe few weeks ago. So maybe an even older version would have worked?

    Any other ideas?

    Thanks!

P.S. These are classic controls, I tried modern controls and those have the icons.

I have another idea but you probably wont like it because it will revert all the changes you've made.

So in your app click the three dots beside the settings "..."
    and check "app version history"

here you will see all the version your app has when you save it. You will see a (live) at the end if its the one you've published. So I'm thinking maybe you can rollback to when it was still working but this doesnt really solve the issue because you might still encounter this error at the end of the day... after starting over..

Another thing Im looking on is using a completely new device and see if its still encountering the same error because this can now be classified as software error? Have you tried letting others use your app in a different device and if their encountering the same error as you?

Lastly have you tried deleting the control and placing a new control? Sometimes this can solve some bugs.

I am having the same issue, the issue starting end of JAN 2025.  I didn't republish my Apps in between end of JAN 2025 to early FEB 2025, the issue is just happened.

The msising icons in Date Picker (calendar icon, last month icon, next month icon), and also the chevron downward arrow in the combobox.  They all became the squares.

I have tried roll back to previous versions, republish, delete browsers cache, but all no luck.  The missing icons became all squares with access the Apps by Chrome browser, Edge browser, Power Apps in iOS.

Only preview in the Editing is alright, I suspected it is the Power Apps environment issues rather than end users or compatiblities.

Glad I'm not the only one with this issue. I couldn't find anyone else asking about this. I guess there is just something wrong with these controls on certain devices/app viewers.

I wound up swapping all my date pickers and combo boxes for the modern versions which don't have this issue.

I personally hate the modern controls, it is buggy, and the appearance looks too bold and cannot be customized.  And the Modern calendar with extra "OK" button, which is odd.

I just kept as they are for now, as it is cosemtic issue for now, their functionality isn't affected, and I hope one day they will roll back or apply patch the control display.

I just hope Microsoft is not going to obsolete and discontinue the use of classic controls, doing so really affect the whole community.

    Hello,
I'm having the same issue, and as by 28th Feb it still exists.
I'm missing icons on the Date Picker control.
    Have you had any findings?

I have tried republish my previous version of app (some version around FEB 2025) today, those classic control icons for combobox chevron downward arrow, datepicker calendar icons and next/previous months icons are back.  Input text box somehow the borders are gone this time.

But at least, no blank squares in the controls.
