Dataverse is more than just a place to store business data — it can also become a powerful knowledge source for AI agents.

In this session, we will explore how to move beyond simple record filtering and enable AI agents to find relevant information using Dataverse Search.

Starting with the fundamentals, we will walk through the manual configuration required to make a Dataverse table searchable, including:

Enabling Dataverse Search
Selecting and indexing the right columns
Updating Quick Find Views
Creating a Model-Driven App
Understanding how search scopes are created and used by agents

We will then compare how Dataverse Search works across different Copilot Studio experiences:

Standard Harness (classic Copilot Studio)
See how Dataverse can be added directly as a knowledge source and how Copilot Studio uses the configured search capabilities.

GitHub Copilot Harness (new Copilot Studio experience)
Explore why Dataverse is not currently exposed as a simple knowledge source option, and how agents can still leverage Dataverse Search using the Dataverse MCP search() capability.

You will also learn why agent instructions matter — and how a small difference in prompting can determine whether your agent performs a true relevance search or simply applies a basic data filter.
