Icebreakers

The "Handshake problem" is a classic math problem: "How many handshakes would take place if everyone in a room were to shake hands with everyone else?" Besides the numerical answer, what makes this problem more interesting is figuring out HOW this would actually take place. What would it look like? It's an exercise in computational thinking that I recommend to anyone looking for a challenge.

As a teacher, this app let me run icebreakers throughout the year and create opportunities where everyone would be guaranteed to meet everyone else. I'm sharing my app solution with you so you can use it. If you like it, add your own icebreaker and share it back to the community 🙂

Start by creating your own list of participants. There is logic in the app that supports pasting in a column of names from Excel. I did not connect it to a datasource to keep the app simple, so you can do that yourself.

The app is very bare on purpose and I invite you to spruce it up with your own way of creating menus

A screen is in the app for sending feedback. It's just a screen template 🙂

I made a leap in my learning of PowerApps when someone shared a calculator app. So I share this with you so you can learn how I do things. Let me know what you pick out from it and what you might do differently.
