Friday Functions Series | Set a SharePoint People Column to the Current User's Manager

Audrie101 Profile Picture Posted by Audrie101

Supporting Carlos' blog this week, learn how to default a control in PowerApps to set the value of a Person/People column on SharePoint to the current user's manager using the Office 365 Users Connector. I noticed that the last paragraph of his blog mentions managers, after I posted the video. However, I figured the video would still be useful to some.

Carlos' awesome blog on setting default values on complex SharePoint columns:
https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/default-values-for-complex-sharepoint-types/

More on the Office 365 Users Connection:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/maker/canvas-apps/connections/connection-office365-users

Syntax used in the Default Property of the Person Control in the video:
If(
Form1.Mode = FormMode.New,
{
DisplayName: Office365Users.ManagerV2(User().Email).displayName,
Claims: "i:0#.f|membership|" & Office365Users.ManagerV2(User().Email).mail
},
Parent.Default)

Enjoy!
Audrie

    additional Re: Friday Functions Series | Set a SharePoint People Column to the Current User's Manage

    I'm able to get it to appear correctly, but when I submit the record, the value is not saved back to SharePoint. Is there an additional setting somewhere I need to use for it to store?

    I'm using SubmitForm(FormEdit) to submit the form and it works for all the other values.

    Thanks!
